Thomas and Jasmin
We look forward to welcoming you to our mountain hotel on Schynige Platte. We hope you enjoy the restaurant, the terrace and our self service with a magnificent view of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau.
If you would like to experience a magnificent sunrise or sunset then stay with us in our nostalgic rooms that have changed little from your grandparents days.
The Hotel
Welcome to our mountain hotel, which not only offers a nuance of nostalgia but also fantastic views of the Eiger, Mönch & Jungfrau and more. Spacious rooms with 2 or 3 beds.
Enjoy the old-fashioned feel of the over 100-year-old mountain hotel, the luxury of tranquillity and the stunning Alpine world of the Bernese Oberland. You’ll be enchanted by the ambiance of bygone days.
An Alpine glow in your room, rest and relaxation at its very best.
Old chests of drawers with marble tops, rustic beds and duvets, a porcelain basin and water jug for washing – all the olf-fashioned fittings create an authentic, old world ambience. And naturally with no telephone and certainly no television. But who needs television with such a sensational sunset and sunrise?

A brief history
Schynige Platte Hotel built
The original Alpenrose Hotel was no longer able to cope with the increasing stream of visitors, and in 1894 the Schynige Platte Mountain Hotel was built.
Fire destroyed the building
Four years later – in the early hours of 25th July 1898 – the building was completely destroyed by fire!
Today's mountain hostel built
The Schynige Hotel, which still stands today, was completed in 1899.
New restaurant building opens
The modern section of the hotel opened and offers guests the most spectacular view of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau, the Lutschen Valleys and Lake Thun, as well as an imposing glacier panorama. With its sun terrace, the restaurant now seats over 300 guests.
